What’s Your Point? C1–C2 Skills in Shaping and Sharing Ideas

This often happens because many intermediate learners stay at the surface level of conversation. In contrast, advanced users — those at C1 and C2 — navigate discussions with ease, adding depth, building on others’ ideas, and widening the scope of communication.

In this session, we’ll explore what distinguishes advanced learners in their ability to develop and extend ideas building on contributions of their partners. We’ll look at how C1–C2 users shape their thoughts into nuanced, purposeful messages and keep conversations flowing by offering new angles and meaningful contributions. You’ll leave with practical strategies and activities to help your students generate, refine, and expand on ideas.

Language mastery at C1 and C2 levels goes beyond vocabulary and grammar—it's about thinking critically, creatively, and strategically in English. This talk explores how cognitive skills, rooted in Bloom's Taxonomy, can elevate learners from functional to exceptional language users. By engaging in complex, unconventional tasks, students stretch their mental agility, build self-efficacy, and gain the confidence to navigate real-world communication challenges. Shadowing done right. How to use Shadowing to master English intonation, become a more skillful speaker and bridge the C1 – C2 gap

Shadowing is a powerful tool for helping us develop a deeper understanding of how intonation and phonological features of English work in real-life communication, enabling us to speak more fluently, naturally, and persuasively in a variety of styles and communicative situations.

In this session we are going to look at some practical tips on how to effectively incorporate shadowing into your language learning routine and discuss how you could upgrade this technique for it to cater to your individual learning needs and objectives. By the end of the session you are going to have a clear understanding of what, who and how to shadow to accelerate your language progress.

C1 and C2 are tough nuts to crack. Mastering these highest levels of English proficiency requires significant time and effort.
